Water Department/PUB lic Utilities Board Annual Report - 1982
The 255-page file titled "Water Department/Public Utilities Board Annual Reports – 1982" spanning from 5 Jun 1982 to 2 Jul 1984 contained two annual reports: one for the Public Utilities Board and the other for the Water Department.

The Public Utilities Annual Report for 1982 detailed the progress and challenges in meeting the increasing demand for electricity and water.  PUB planned to commission new power stations, including Senoko Power Station Stage III and Pulau Seraya Power Station Stage I, to significantly increase generating capacity.  In addition, a gas turbine was set to be commissioned at Pasir Panjang Power Station to meet peak load demand.  Discussion was held on obtaining natural gas from Malaysia to potentially modify existing power stations to use gas or oil.  The Water Conservation Plan aimed to reduce water wastage through various measures, with joint studies with the Economic Development Board exploring incentives for water conservation in commercial and industrial enterprises.   A new system of electricity tariffs was introduced, adjusted quarterly based on prevailing oil prices.

The Water Department's Annual Report for 1982 provided an overview of various projects and improvements in water supply and conservation.  The Sungei Seletar/Bedok Water Scheme involved constructing two reservoirs and a treatment works.  New service reservoirs and booster stations, including Bukit Kalang II, Nanyang II, and Jalan Petua, were under construction.  Water conservation efforts included advising large consumers on reducing wastage and installing 'thimbles' in high-rise apartments, resulting in significant savings.  The Biology Unit monitored reservoirs ecologically, introducing fish species to control algal and aquatic weed growth.
