Through the Lens

Did you know that the National Archives of Singapore has more than 2.3 million photographs in its collections? This also makes the photograph collection the largest among all the other collections held in the archives, which range from maps and building plans, oral history, audiovisual archives etc.

This virtual display is a curated series of photographs that provides a peek into the Singapore of yesteryear – captured through the lens, and offering different angles and perspectives from each photographer.

Because a picture paints a thousand words, let us journey into some of these Singapore stories visually told through the lens.

This initial series of photographs are curated to complement with the BiblioAsia article (Jul-Sep 2025) “A Tale of Two Cities – Singapore through the Lens of P.S. Teo and Ronni Pinsler” .
