Record file contains command report of American-British-Dutch-Australian (ABDA), the Allied headquarters for the defence of Malaya and the Netherlands East Indies. The command was activated on 15 January 1942 under Field Marshall Sir Archibald Wavell and was disbanded on 23 February. Also contains Heavily annotated and amended report on the campaign in Malaya and the East Indies, 8 December 1941 to 9 March 1942 'the purpose of this introduction is to show how the fighting in Malaya and Java was only part of a much wider Pacific question..' Report is a chronological account of events using Chief of Staff messages, intelligence notes and other correspondence. The various appendices include number of troops in Malaya as at 8 December 1942, Appendix E Te ABDA Directive of 3 Jan 1942 and map A Malay Peninsula showing the Japanese advance and British positions.
