Papers discussing the issue of citizenship rights of the inhabitants after the transfer to Australia, in particular the status of those born on the island between 1 January 1958 and the transfer date. They will not be a citizen of Singapore by birth, but will be a citizen b descent if their father is entitled to the status of a citizen of Singapore. Documents include an application form to register the birth of a person born outside the colony of Singapore on or after 1 November 1957, whose father is a citizen of Singapore by birth and a statement on the subject made by the U.K. Commissioner General at the Chinese Literary Club  of Christmas Island and his impressions on his 4 day visit to the island in June 1958..
