Papers relating to the negotiations on the extension of the British-Malayan Defence Agreement of 1957 to Malaysia and its application to Singapore and the implications for the tenure of defence lands. Specific issues include use of U.K. civilians and armed forces to assist in the maintenance of essential services in the event of an emergency or a break down in law and order in Singapore and in Malaysia and the extension of the provisions of the defence agreement to cover New Zealand and Australian Forces who might be stationed in Malaysia and Singapore.
