Papers concerned with the compulsory acquisition of the Bajau Estate, part of the lands of the Bajau Rubber and Produce Estates Ltd. The land in question is situated adjacent to the Jurong Development Scheme and Nanyang University. The estate formed a substantial rubber plantation until 1942 but under Japanese occupation, the trees were cut down and used for fuel After the war, the Company decided to keep the land in its existing state and to offer it for sale. The sale was stalled due to the Confrontation with Indonesia and the internal political situation in Singapore but now the Singapore Government has issued a compulsory purchase notice. Appeal has been made to the British Government. Details of negotiations between the company and the Singapore Government for compensation.
