Belief of the Governor of Singapore, Shenton Thomas, that the rules on imports and exports should be tightened. Extract from the report on the first three months of the war in Malaya which is chiefly concerned with the control of imports and the legislation in the Straits Settlements to enforce the controls 25 April 1940 and 29 July 1940. Complaints of producers of tin and rubber. Licences also needed for imports of Japanese cellophane into Singapore.
