DO 187/29: Indonesian reactions towards the establishment of the Federation of Malaysia.
01/01/1963 - 31/12/1963
Continuation of DO 187/28. Further attempts by the UN to mediate between Indonesia and Malaysia and to discover the extent of support for a Greater Malaysia in Sabah. Suggestions of holding a UN Plebiscite in the Borneo Territories. Boycott of BOAC at Jakarta Airport led to suspension of MAL services as well.  Scurrilous allegations about the Tunku in the Indonesian press.  Reports of the meeting in Tokyo between Sukarno and the Tunku. Indonesian realisation that the policy of confrontation was unlikely to prevent the formation of a Greater Malaysia. However the British still believed Sukarno to be untrustworthy.
