DO 187/26: Indonesian reactions towards the establishment of the Federation of Malaysia.
01/01/1963 - 31/12/1963
Continuation of DO 187/25. Accusations by the Indonesians that the RAF made illegal flights over their territory in North Kalimantan on the border with North Borneo. Details of talks between the USA, GB and Australia on the problems posed by Indonesian actions. Reports on discussions in Singapore on the attitude of Malaysia to Indonesia. It seems that the latter will do everything 'short of actual war' to disrupt the forthcoming merger between Malaya and Singapore and the Borneo Territories. Documents include messages of the Antara News Agency in Indonesia, reports of meetings in London at the Dominions and Foreign Offices, comments on the attitudes of New Zealand and Australia, notes on the measures contemplated by the UK to meet the threats to British Borneo and minutes of meetings of the combines intelligence staff committee in Kuala Lumpur and reports on relations between Malaya and the Philippines.
