CO 1030/639: Proposed compulsory voting in elections in Singapore. Secret

Copy of the bill placed before the Legislative Assembly to make voting compulsory in both elections to itself and to local government posts. This had been recommended by the Elias Commission as the most important single measure to eliminate corrupt practices. Lee Kuan Yew initially opposed it but now supports it.
