Foreign Secret Cons. 26 Dec 1818 No. 4 - Letter from Secretary of Prince of Wales Island to John Adam, Chief Secretary to Government, regarding the objection raised by the Dutch Commissioner at Malacca to the British claim on the Carimon Islands. The Governor in Council, however, states that no authority has been given for negotiation for the islands or any discussion with the Dutch, claiming that the 'Pretensions of that Power to the undivided sovereignty in the Eastern Seas' will be of 'disadvantage to the British Interests'.
