WO 203/5293: Malaya: relations with Malay Sultans
01/01/1945-31/12/1946
Various drafts of a paper 'Initial Relations with the Sultans on the liberation of Malaya' dated 21 July 1945 and associated correspondence. The paper was written on behalf of the Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia (SACSEA), Lord Mountbatten. It was recognised that after liberation, Constitutional Changes would have to be negotiated with the rulers to create a unified Malaya. Later papers deal with the negotiations between Sir Harold MacMichael and the various rulers to create a consensus for the changes.
