Reports, correspondence and other papers giving information on the activities of Chinese Secret Societies and attempts to control them by the Singapore authorities. Documents include a copy of the article 'The Interplay of Chinese Secret and Political Societies in Malaya,  Eastern World  (April-May 1950), a Memorandum on the Control of Secret Societies, reports from the Commissioner of Police in Singapore on the activities of the MCP and their use of Chinese gangs and criminals and correspondence relating to the wish of the Commissioner of Police to use the Emergency Regulations as a temporary measure to break the power of the Secret Societies which has the support of the Secretary of Chinese Affairs.
