360  Singapore, the 17 April 1827  of the appointment mentioned in the foregoing letter, but directed to continue performing the Civil Duties of the Residency as heretofore until the final departure of the Bengal Troops which will be duly notified in General Orders.  Secretary to Government No. 641  Read a letter from the Secretary to Government dated the 4th Instant, acknowledging the receipt of two letters dated the 5th and 10th ultimo on the Subject of the proposition submitted for affording employment to the lower classes of the native Population, and clearing the interior of the Island, also reporting the principles on which the future disposition of lands is intended to be made and stating that the consideration thereof is postponed until the arrival of the Hon'ble the Governor at Singapore  Ditto Ditto No. 645   Read a letter from the Secretary to Government dated the 5th Instant, transmitting a box of Stationery per H. C. Ship Hastings.           The box of Stationery, with the Invoice is sent to the accountant.  Ditto Ditto No. 667  Read a letter from the Secretary to Government dated the 5th Instant, advising of the engagement of the H. C. Ship Cambridge for the conveyance of the Honourable the Governor and Suite down the Straits.  Ditto Ditto No. 673  Read copy of a letter addressed to the Inspector General dated 4: Instant authorizing the engagement of a Draftsman at each of the three Settlements, at 70 Sicca Rupees per month, also an apprentice to each Draftsman.          The Executive Officer is authorized to engage a Draftsman for his Office on the allowance fixed by Government, also an apprentice of which [?]
