Read the following letter from the Officiating Superintending Surgeon, submitting copy of a letter from Assistant Surgeon Roswell, requesting to review if medical surgeon acquiring a knowledge of the native languages will be granted the same indulgence as enjoyed by the civil servants.

Resolved that the Officiating Superintending Surgeon be informed that Government will allow a [Moushee?] or teacher at 20 R per month , to the medical servants desires of studying the native languages, but he Board must leave the reward to be decided on by the [Humble?] Court of Directors.

Read the following letter with enclosure from the Officiating Superintending Surgeon inspecting medical store for the H.G. ship Hastings. Enter.

Resolved that the Superintending Surgeon be authorised to supply the Medical Store required to be accounted for when the Hastings returns from Bencoolen.

The board remarks that the indent should have been submitted to the secretary through the medicines of the commander of the Hastings, the surgeon of that ship bring under the immediate order of Lt. Lunghton, and having no authority to correspond direct with the head of the medical department here.
