Read a letter from the Resident Counsellor Malacca enclosing copy of one from Mr. Lewis the Superintendent of Lands, relative to the total failure of the Paddy crops in the Malacca Territories
The Board approves of the advance of 5 Coyans of Paddy, and sanctions the remainder applied for, to be recovered when coming crops admit.
Read a letter No. 250 dated 15 Ultimo from the Resident Counsellor Malacca, relative to 8 Convicts having absconded from Penkallang Menyak.
The Board directs that the Convicts may be kept in Irons, and not sent out beyond the town.
Read a letter No 276 dated 20 Ultimo from the Resident Counsellor Malacca forwarding copy of a letter from the Justices of the Settlement relative to a man named Jehaleht who has evinced symptoms of violent derangement of intellect.
The Board is of opinion that the man should be confirmed as insane.
