FCO 141/16831: Singapore: history of the Changi airport project - migrated archives
01/01/1949-31/12/1949
Two copies of the typed report on the post-war proposal to develop Changi Airport along with associated correspondence. It is noted that the construction of the airport was first undertaken by the Japanese and after the war, various committees were set up and reports published into the feasibility of the development but only latterly has the swampy nature of the ground to the East of the airport been discovered. Papers also include proposals for the development of Tengah to accommodate both military and civil aircraft.
