01/01/1946-31/12/1948
File of press cuttings, correspondence and reports concerned with an investigation of the claims of the Philippines to the territory of North Borneo which is soon to become a Crown Colony. The claim is based on a treaty made with the late Sultan of Sulu in 1878 and the heirs of the Sultan are asking for payment of 'cession monies'. Documents include extracts from the 'History of Sulu' by Najeeb M. Saleeby; correspondence between Jesselton and Singapore requesting the despatch of documents relating to the claim and a Map of North Borneo (HIND 5000 sheet no. 50, second edition 1944) showing territorial limits including the sea boundary with the Philippines.
