CA-3242: Possible US-Malaysia income tax treaty discussions

Department of State informed American Embassy Kuala Lumpur that John Petty, Assist. Sec., US Treasury for International Affairs and Tan Siew Sin, Malaysian Finance Minister agreed to negotiate a US-Malaysia income tax treaty with investment incentives such as a tax-sparing provision but USG objected to that provision. This treaty would prevent double taxation between the two countries.
