FCO 141/15272: Singapore: Kra Isthmus Canal, Thailand
01/01/1958-31/12/1958
Correspondence with London and Bangkok over the dangers to the trade of Singapore from an American proposal to cut a canal through the Isthmus of Kra. The British Company Taylor Woodrow are also interested in the project.  The Foreign Office notes that in the Anglo-Thai Peace Treaty of 1946 the Thais had undertaken not to cut a canal through the Isthmus without the prior consent of the British.
