FCO 141/14844: Singapore: South East Asia Treaty Organisation (SEATO) conferences - migrated archives
01/01/1956-31/12/1959
Correspondence, reports, press cuttings and other papers concerned with meetings of SEATO, including a staff planners' conference held in Singapore in June 1956 and a report on the SEATO seminar on countering Communist subversion held at Baguio in the Philippines in November 1957. Other documents discuss the attitude of Malaya in not wishing to join the organisation at the present time and the belief of David Marshall, former Chief Minister of Singapore that 'SEATO was a Western plan tending to subjugate the Far East'.
