WO 361/411: Casualties at sea, Far East: SS Empress of Asia, sunk at Singapore, 5 February 1942

Statements of survivors who were on board the ship when, soon after her arrival in Singapore on 5 February 1942, she was bombed and sunk by the Japanese. Some of the survivors went on to fight on Singapore and also give details of the actions against the Japanese. Also included are Statutory Declarations of men who escaped from Singapore and who arrived in Australia which give information on the last days before the capitulation and escape from Singapore.
