A-190: Malaysia-Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR)

American Embassy Kuala Lumpur informed Department of State that ICAO meeting held in Honolulu agreed to give Malaysia Flight Information Region (FIR) control over Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu sectors, and partial sectors over Singapore, Straits of Malacca and the Adaman Sea. However due to heavy traffic over the Singapore and the South China Sea, FIR control was retained by Singapore for routes through this area.
