Kuala 01312: Internal security situation

American Embassy Kuala Lumpur informed Secretary of State that the Malayan Communist Party launched an all-out campaign of harassment during the tense period leading up to the May 13 anniversary of communal rioting. Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman reassured the public that the armed forces are able to handle the internal security situation.
