A-43: Government White Paper on Sarawak insurgency

American Embassy Kuala Lumpur informed Department of State that the Government White Paper on "The threat of armed communism in Sarawak" traced the history of the communist movement from before the confrontation, the temporary withdrawal of the communist forces across the border to Kalimantan and their subsequent return to Sarawak. The report stated that "Operation Ngayau" had achieved its objectives. The White Paper stressed the Chinese character of the Sarawak Communist Organisation and discussed the role of the Sarawak United People's Party. The report is attached.
