A-157: Communist threat in West Malaysia

American Embassy Kuala Lumpur informed Department of State that the Communist Party of Malaya started moving South from its sanctuary in Southern Thailand in its effort to re-establish a guerrilla presence on the Malayan peninsula from June 1968. In three years the Communists succeeded in setting up five base areas in Malaya and infiltrating about two hundred armed cadres.
