WO 203/2745: Operation Zipper. JPS paper no. 169
01/06/1945-30/06/1945
JPS paper 169 examined the operations that could and should be taken after the successful launching of Zipper and Mailfist. Proposed strategic requirements, such as the clearance of North Malaya so that they can use the Alor Star airfields, were planned. The main objective is to destroy Japanese forces in Southeast Asia. Economic requirements include rubber and rice. Malaya produces sufficient rubber, hence operations in Siam would be to secure rice growing areas.  Before actions can be taken an assessment of the naval, air and military situation had to be made first.
