06/12/1998
Chia Chew Soo detailed his account of the Japanese Invasion and how he survived it. He was ten years old when the Japanese invaded his village on Chinese New Year's Eve. He described how he, his family members and the villagers were killed, injured or caught by the Japanese soldiers. He hoped that Japan would admit her mistake and apologise for the sufferings that he and his family had gone through during the invasion. He also reiterated his purpose of coming to Japan, which was to let the new Japanese generation understand the truth behind the atrocities commited by the past generation, and thus learn the mistake and not invade others ever again.
