VAN KLEEF AQUARIUM, SINGAPORE
Van Kleef Aquarium at River Valley Road was named after Dutchman Karl Willem Benjamin Van Kleef who resided in Singapore from the late 19th century until 1913 when he returned to Holland. He bequeathed his estate to the municipal government of Singapore upon his death in 1930. The aquarium opened in September 1955 but falling visitorship resulted in its closure in 1991.
