Unveiling of the Birch Memorial Clock Tower in Ipoh, Perak by High Commissioner of the Federated Malay States Sir John Anderson. The tower was erected in memory of J. W. W. Birch, the first British Resident in Perak, who was assassinated in Pasir Salak on 2 November 1875.
