TANJONG KATONG, SINGAPORE
Postcard featuring beach along Tanjong Katong, on east coast of Singapore, with coconut grove and attap huts. The concrete wall (right) most probably belonged to a seaside bungalow, one of many such buildings found here. The Foreshores Act required seaside houses be built at least 50 feet (or 15 metres) from shoreline. Where seawalls were needed, steps were constructed leading down to the beach from the garden, like the ones seen here.
