OLD FORT, MALACCA
A Famosa, Malacca, Straits Settlements. Built in 1511 by the Portuguese after they captured Malacca, the fort changed hands in 1641 after the Dutch drove the Portuguese out of Malacca. When Malacca was ceded to the United Kingdom in early 19th century, the entire fortress was demolished except for this gate.
