The new school buildings enclose the ground level assembly area.  This is typical of architectural design for new secondary schools built in post-independence Singapore of 1965. This new design consists of four main buildings, the Teaching Block, the Science and Domestic Science Block, the Assembly Hall, and the Gymnasium which are arranged around a courtyard.  The new design is expected to occupy less space. Better security is also provided by the placement of the four main blocks around a quadrangle.
