PART OF A SERIES OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS FROM WESTERN FIRING AREA TO NATURE RESERVES TO EAST COAST
Aerial photo showing the southern half of RAF Tengah airfield, with Choa Chu Kang road bending around the end of runway 36. A new runway seems to be under construction with construction vehicles working on it. Parked at the airfield are numerous English Electric Canberra bombers. In September 1960, RAF transport aircraft had flown a dummy Red Beard atomic bomb to Tengah in preparation for deploying live nuclear weapons there. 48 live Red Beard atomic bombs were deployed to Tengah in August 1962. They could have been delivered by Canberra bombers from low altitude, or V-bombers, like the Victor and Vulcan, from high altitude.
