Photo shows the Malaysia Proclamation ceremony held at City Hall, Singapore at about 5pm. Similar ceremonies were also held in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak) but at different timings. Present at the ceremony in Singapore were the Yang Di-Pertuan negara, Yusof Bin Ishak, the Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew; the British Secretary for Commonwealth Relations, Mr Duncan Sandys, the Federation Minister for Internal Security, Dr Ismail Bin Abdul Rahman along with Singapore government ministers and members of the Judiciary and Consular Corps. On the rostrum, Dr Ismail was reading a message on behalf of the Federation Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, "We have made our decision after much care and thought....this spirit of co-operation and concord is living proof of the desire we share for a common destiny....". The ceremony was held to officially proclaim the formation of Malaysia, constituting Singapore, Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.
