MR KOH BAK MONG, 65, AND HIS SON NGIAK KWANG, 18, DUG OUT TWO STEEL BOXES INTACT AMONG THE RUBBLE IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE CHANGI MARKET FIRE. INSIDE WERE $3,375.30 AND SOME DOCUMENTS. THE FIRE DESTROYED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF GOODS STOCKED IN THE PREMISES FOR THE CHINESE NEW YEAR. POLICE CORDONED THE AREA WHILE CONSTABLES KEPT WATCH ON THE FIRE VICTIMS AS THEY WENT THROUGH THE DEBRIS.
