NEW MARKET (ELLENBOROUGH MARKET), SINGAPORE
Ellenborough Market in Ellenborough Street, by the Singapore River, near New Bridge Road. It was known as the "New Market" as it had been rebuilt in 1891-1894 on the site of an earlier market. As the area was populated by the Teochews, it was nicknamed "Teochew Market". In 1968, it was destroyed in a fire and the building was demolished some time later.
