SULTAN SHOAL LIGHTHOUSE, SINGAPORE

Operational since 1896, Sultan Shoal lighthouse was converted from kerosene to electrical operation on 16 February 1968. This increased the illumination from 70,000 to 670,000 “candlepower”. Since the introduction of automation in 1984, lighthouse keepers have not been required.
