Start of Straits Times Million Dollar Duck Race at the Singapore River. President S R Nathan is guest-of-honour at the race, in which about 100,000 rubber ducks participate and which sets a world record for the number of ducks adopted for a charity race. Proceeds from the race go to Touch Community Services and physical education teacher Abdul Razak wins first prize of $10,000.
