TONGKANGS IN TOW, SINGAPORE
Out at sea, two Bugis pinisi (phinisi) being towed make a dramatic outline against the sky. The schooner was built at Bulukumba in South Sulawesi and used by Makassar sailors in the Malay Archipelago. They are not Bugis perahu pinis, and not built at Bulukumba. Few perahu pinis were built at Bulukumba.
