MINISTER FOR INFORMATION AND THE ARTS AND SECOND MINISTER FOR TRADE AND INDUSTRY BRIGADIER-GENERAL GEORGE YEO YONG-BOON OFFICIATES AT INAUGURATION OF ROY LICHTENSTEIN SCULPTURES AT MILLENIA SINGAPORE
One of the "Six Brushstrokes", 1996 series, by prominent American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, at Millenia Singapore. The six aluminium sculptures of varying heights are whimsical calligraphic renditions of nature, land and seascapes. They were fabricated in Bristol, Rhode Island, and installed at the Roy Lichtenstein Sculpture Plaza, Millenia Singapore, in June/July 1997. Brought in to Singapore only months before Lichtenstein's death, these sculptures are a befitting epilogue to his life's achievements and final wish to showcase his art in the island state.
