STONE RUBBING INSCRIPTION OF MEMORIAL PLAQUE OF STEPHEN HALLPIKE,  BRICKED INTO THE WALLS OF THE FORT CANNING PARK. HE ARRIVED IN SINGAPORE IN 1826 AND WAS BY TRADE A BLACKSMITH. ACCORDING TO CHARLES BUCKLEY, HALLPIKE FOUNDED THE FIRST SHIPYARD IN SINGAPORE. HALLPIKE STREET IS NAMED AFTER HIM.
