The man in the white singlet facing the camera was a kitchen assistant nicknamed 'Guni Ter' (Teochew for 'suckling pig'). His actual name is unknown. The man in glasses behind the display counter on the left of the photo is the late Ng Seow Kee, Ng Wei Chian's eldest paternal uncle, who ran the bak kut teh and Teochew porridge business in the shophouse pictured here.

In the doorway in the background is Ng Wei Chian's second paternal uncle, Ng Seow Khern.
