PUBLIC RECOGNITION ACCORDED TO THE GUERRILLAS FOR THEIR MERITORIOUS SERVICES BY ADMIRAL LORD LOUIS MOUNTBATTEN
On the left is Lord Louis Mountbatten. On the right is Chin Peng, then member of the Malayan People's Anti-Japanese Army (MPAJA) and would later go on to be the Secretary-General of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) or Communist Party of Malaya (CPM). The MPAJA leaders were awarded with British campaign medals for their contributions to the Allied war efforts.
