INDUSTRY: NEW IRON AND STEEL PLANT.
A GENERAL VIEW OF THE NEW IRON AND STEEL PLANT AT RAVENSCRAIG, NEAR MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND, SHOWING THE BLAST FURNACE, COKE OVENS BUNKER, BENZOLE SCRUBBERS FOR RECOVERING BENZOLE FROM COKE OVEN GAS, THE POWER STATION AND COOLING TOWER. THE NEW PLANT, WHEN COMPLETE, WILL INCREASE SCOTLAND'S ANNUAL OUTPUT OF PIG IRON BY 350,000 TONS AND STEEL BY 400,000 TONS.
