PRIME MINISTER LEE KUAN YEW ATTENDS VALEDICTORY GARDEN PARTY AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE GARDEN

Dr Yeoh, MP for Joo Chiat, has been the Speaker of Parliament for nearly 19 of the 23 years that Singapore has been independent. He was elected in 1966. Dr Yeoh is now a surgeon in private practice. Mr Fong, MP for Chai Chee, is the youngest among the 14 retiring MPs. First elected in 1963, he has spent half his life in public service. Mr Fong is now a consultant.
