Urban Planning in Singapore
About Project
The interviews under this project depict the evolution of Singapore’s infrastructure, from the provision of public housing to the construction of shopping centres, financial districts, and iconic buildings.
Through extensive dialogue with architects, former Housing and Development Board (HDB) and Urban Renewal Authority (URA) employees, and landscape and town planning consultants, we have an overview of the many improvements constituting Singapore’s architectural progress over the years.
Some of the interviews cover the topic of en-bloc sales and redevelopment, building safety, and the construction process behind notable architectural projects like the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the Subordinate Courts, and the Istana Park and Istana Garden.
Interviewees include Alan Choe, first general manager of URA, and Liu Thai Ker, architect and former master planner at URA.
