About Project
These six interviews are from the National Library of Australia. Three interviewees were diplomats: T K Critchley (1993, on riots, communists, independence); Roy Fernandez (1993, on Singapore in the 1950s) and Sir Keith Officer (1969, on Australian bases in Singapore). Sir John Gorton, the 19th prime minister of Australia, was interviewed in 1976. The remaining two interviews record Singapore before World War II (Roland McKie) and the fall of Singapore (John Lane).
