About Project
These 15 interviews were conducted in 2009 by Migrant Voices, a Singapore community arts charity established in 2006. Most of the interviewees were, at the time of their interviews, in the construction industry, or housekeepers/domestic workers. Their time in Singapore ranged from 10 months to 16 years. The nationalities of interviewees are Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian and Thai. Many compare their lives at home and in Singapore, explain mementoes brought to the interview, narrate how they came to Singapore, and talk about their daily routines and family.
