These interviews were conducted for the purpose of publishing the book Ong Teng Cheong: Planner, Politician, President (2005) by Tisa Ng and Lily Tan. Most interviewees were friends and colleagues of Ong, notably S Dhanabalan, Halimah Yacob, S R Nathan, Wong Kan Seng and George Yeo. A wide range of topics are covered, including Ong’s personality, the Istana renovation, his interest and involvement in the arts (e.g. National Arts Council, Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay), his work with the unions, sports and recreational clubs, Changi airport, the development of the Mass Rapid Transit, and his overseas trips. Less mentioned are Ong’s school life and architectural work.
